What’s a Funnel?

 

If you’ve been in the marketing world for any length of time you’ve run across funnels because they’re some of the most important elements to digital marketing.

But for those of you who are scratching your head and thinking “What’s a funnel?” Let’s grab a working definition.

A funnel is a process (any process) that takes a total stranger ---- into a paying client. For course creators that would mean the process that takes a stranger to a paid member inside your online course.

When digital marketers are talking about funnels it’s usually referring to something that looks like this:

Opt-in (aka Squeeze page) ---> Free (or low cost) Content  ----> Invitation to join Course

The squeeze page is that page where you enter your name and email address.

This funnel is a very basic funnel, the more you’re in business the more you’ll optimize and refine your funnels and they can get pretty hefty! 

So why is a funnel so important? 

If you’re in business, it’s vital to have a process to get clients. 

That sounds so obvious, but the reality is that most coaches and course creators are relying on social media and luck, and oftentimes it’s not working out. 

When students aren’t joining your course, it leads to all kinds of problems. The first being a major cash flow problem… but the biggest issue is emotional. 

When students don’t sign up it can leave the coach feeling like their course isn’t good enough. Or that people don’t want it. Or that online courses just aren’t going to work to make a living from. They begin to lose faith and most of the time they end up quitting. 

This is tragic. 

I believe your voice was meant to be heard. You didn’t create that course for no reason, you created it because you’re a heart centered entrepreneur who is here to share you gifts and talents with the world. Your students need you and the world needs you. 

Do. Not. Give. Up.

When you don’t know HOW to market your course, the right way, and do the right things, chances are your course isn’t going to sell well. That’s not your fault, and it says nothing about how valuable your course is. 

It’s literally just a gap in knowledge about marketing. 

If you want to be in business online, you’re going to need to understand the marketing side of things. The good news is that master marketers have come before… and they’ve paved the way for us. There is zero need to reinvent the wheel (and doing so would probably end in failure anyways) all we need to do is … the things that work. 

There’s a system and structure for every part of a profitable funnel. This isn’t something that you can just guess at, and it’s not something that you’ll learn from watching YouTube videos. You actually need to learn the skills and the reasons behind those skills. 

If you want to build a profitable business, you’ll need to fall in love with the marketing side of it. Automate your marketing with funnels, the right funnels, built the right way.
